Although I thought Japanese characters could be entered properly from a
terminal emulator on Mac, I found a different problem - delete-char
deletes a byte of a kanji, not two bytes. In addition, if I compose
a mail message on Mew, it treats the contents as ISO-8859-1 text!
I verified with describe-coding-system that the terminal and
keyboard encodings are set to euc-jp. (BTW, Mew used from the
older version of Mule-enabled XEmacs 20.4 does work properly. So
this is not a Mew config problem, I think.)
Am I doing something fundamentally wrong?
