It attracted this developer to the list but unfortunately devoting
time to the cause has proved very difficult. [...]
For instance, my most substantial GTK patch to date
(
http://list-archive.xemacs.org/xemacs-patches/200307/msg00048.html)
has sat in limbo for two months for want of a capable reviewer to
give an opinion.
That's not half-bad. My pseudo-transparency patch was debated,
suggestions were made for some improvements which I added, and
then, the whole thing was never heard of again. Assuming some
communication issue because I wasn't on the list, I joined the
list, gave it some time (people are busy), and asked again.
I have yet to receive an answer. : )
I am not implying any ill will here; I know from other projects
I work on that frequently, half of the people will consider it
somebody else's bailiwick, and the other half are usually "too
busy just now and will look at it in a couple of days." : )
So I'm not trying to pass the blame here (especially since it's
entirely possible that the foo-up occurred on my side, anyway),
just saying, these things seem to have a way of happening in
OSS.
