I think this would be a good idea. Patches welcome. One caveat: you
should try to distinguish between commands and user-visible variables,
and internal objects. For example

These are both interesting to the Lisp programmer, but users won't
care. Users on the other hand would like to know about
line-number-mode, but Lisp programmers will rarely use that command in
their functions.
