Hi, I'm turning to XEmacs list for help,
a SUSE user has reported this problem and I can perfectly reproduce it,
but I'm not 100% sure where the error is. the wnn (input method library)
returns an error, but I think Emacs should handle that better than
crashing.
Steps to reproduce (at least on an openSUSE system):
Install "fwnn"/freewnn, which contains a "jserver" app
Start jserver
Start xemacs
C-x RET C-\ japanese-egg-wnn
Type hoshi SPC
expected that this turns the Japanese characters |ほし| which show up,
into a Chinese character like 星
Here is the bug report:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=830221
I attach the Backtrace and Stacktrace of the original reporter here for
convenience.
The Input method returns an error about a file that does not exist. If
creating the file manually, XEmacs does no langer crash (good!) but the
input method does not work either. Instead, it just shows
98:BAD ERRORNO!!!
I suppose this input method is just broken beyond repair? Does it work
for anyone else, including the step that turns Japanese syllable letters
into Chinese characters?
Take care,
Nei
