I promise to review the [...] gentoo patches.
Maybe we can coordinate this somehow.
I'm in the process of finding out what patches I need to keep, modify
or discard when I go from 21.4.22 to 21.4.23. Some of the patches does
not apply cleanly so it is not a trivial thing to bump the
revision. So I need to figure out if we have fixed these things
upstream already or if I need to modify the patches.
If there are issues remaining, those that are not gentoo specific, and
if we could get those into upstream that would be great. At least for
me as gentoo maintainer ;-)
I have payed very little attention to 21.4 an focused on 21.5. I
confess I should have looked at this earlier but I have to pay for it
now I guess ;-)
So over to the patches: Picking the patch section from the ebuild for
21.4.22 with no more explanation:
epatch "${FILESDIR}"/xemacs-21.4.19-texi.patch
# see bug 58350, 102540 and 143580
epatch "${FILESDIR}"/xemacs-21.4.19-db.patch
# Security bug #216880
epatch "${FILESDIR}"/xemacs-21.4.21-vcdiff.patch
# Security bug #275397
epatch "${FILESDIR}"/${P}-large-images.patch
# Make sure to include deprecated LDAP symbols to avoid runtime
# crashes.
epatch "${FILESDIR}"/${P}-deprecated-ldap.patch (Does not apply
# Fix compilation with libpng 1.5, bug 384461
epatch "${FILESDIR}"/${P}-libpng15.patch
# Add texinfo-5.1 compatibility
epatch "${FILESDIR}"/${P}-texinfo-5.patch
With 21.4.23 the patches for large-images, deprecated-ldap, and
libpng15 does not apply cleanly.
So I need to go through these patches and try to figure out if they
are already in 21.4.23, candidates for getting into 21.4.24 or only
applicable for gentoo.
Yours
