A patch to add DESTDIR support to the Makefiles of XEmacs 21.5.18
is attached. This should make it a bit easier for distributors to build
XEmacs packages.
I had already submitted such a patch in February 2004, but Steve
Youngs pointed out some problems. As I was busy with other things I
had no time to improve this patch until now.

Sorry for the long delay on this. I still haven't had a chance to
review/test, but will try to do so soon (and I plan to commit to
sjt-xft, where others can get at it conveniently).
Have you done an update on this patch since you submitted it Dec 31?

Not especially, to my knowledge--I was just going through the lists, looking
