I'm not sure what you have in mind. Instead of doing a memq on a list
we could put a property on the symbols, I guess ....
(Idle curiosity, I haven't learned anything in the last 3 weeks, this
looks like a good chance! :-)
It's not the actual way of coding it---it's the fact that more
ultimately package-specific stuff creeps into the core, and that another
21.4 release will need to come out before the relevant packages will
work there.
