Er, the big bug I'm referring to is lack of any hg identifier in the
version string. Please commit anything that doesn't break the build
and does get a reasonable facsimile of the hg revision hash into the
version string for a clone of the repo. :-) We can worry about
improving the definition of which hash we want for non-clones, and
making the interface more elegant, later.

I'm not either. I have no idea how to do better on Windows, either.
My intention is not to veto the patch, this is a big bug and it needs
to be fixed. I'm trying to see (a) if it can be done better *now*
(which doesn't look likely), and (b) how much we know that would be of
use in moving forward with improvements *later*. I know nothing about
how xemacs.mak works. :(
