It's theoretically possible, but, my experience is that the only way
to get this kind of thing fixed is to remove the whole buggy feature.
Otherwise people just keep repeating the easy patch anyway. I'm not
sure how to do that in this case. :-)
New OS versions come out only every couple of years, so in practice it
doesn't much matter. I'm not going to tell you you should change your
patch.:-)
