I've seen these in the wild, please don't remove them just yet, unless
you're moving them to iso10646-1. But I don't see anything like that.
They’re already commented out--they’re just commentary on GNU Emacs’
approach to implementing Unicode. I’ve replaced them with a clearer
description of GNU’s approach and how ours differs.
Also, if you're going to generate huge hunks like those in
specifier.c, it's a perfect time to reformat the whitespace. Pretty
please?
I did an indent-region on the file, then restored the docstrings to where
they were initially. There are a few changes that resulted from that, but
not many--hopefully I didn’t miss the reformatting you wanted.
Anyway, as you many have deduced, I’ve committed that change. Comments on
incompatibilities and reports of bugs it introduces are encouraged.
