      Have you tried it?  I have `interprogram-cut-function' set to nil,
 and cut-and-paste still works, although I do have intermittent issues. 
Ahh yes, X selection still works, but you need an "X Selection to 
clipboard" program to get it into the clipboard for Ctrl-V or "Paste" to 
work in other programs. I think I can life with that if I can't get any 
other widget kit to run...
