left-hand side control key lost

In XEmacs 21.4 (patch 3) "Academic Rigor" [Lucid] (i586-pc-win32) of Thu May 17 2001 on SHALOM configured using `configure UNKNOWN' Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug and the precise symptoms of the bug: I am unsure what triggered the bug but I was suddenly unable to use the left hand ctrl key pressing C-U resulted in the message 'C-^U not defined' in the minibuffer. The right hand ctrl key still works OK. I am using a Logitech wireless keyboard with drivers downloaded on 02-01-02.
