Since updating to cygwin 1.3.6-4 xemacs crashes when I open files with a path starting with /cygdrive/. Mounting the stuff under /cygdrive and opening in the mount point doesn't cause the crash. Using other tools (ie. vi) to open files under /cygdrive works fine.
I have duplicated this on two machines.

Either I'm being stupid or XEmacs is. I'm using
"21.4 (patch 6) \"Common Lisp (candidate 1)\" XEmacs Lucid"
on an `alpha-dec-osf5.0' system. A while ago, I downloaded a sumo
tarball, so I have old versions of the packages installed. I want to
update my packages, so I choose a download site from Tools -> Packages
-> Add download site. Then I go to Tools -> Packages -> List and
install. After a second or two, I get this:
*ftp anonymous(a)ftp.xemacs.org* seems not a pty. Kill?
First problem: this is meaningless to me, and probably meaningless to
some other people. Could someone rewrite this error message in
English?
Anyway, my three options are "Yes", "No", and "Cancel", and I haven't
been able to detect any differences in their behaviors. I figure
there's something wrong with the ftp connection, so I select another
download site. (First I choose the one I started with, to unmark that
box, then I choose a new one.) When I try "List and install" again, I
immediately get this:
Process not open for writing: #<process "*ftp
anonymous(a)ftp.sunsite.utk.edu*" pid 480165 state:exit>
This is my second problem: once there is one failure with a download
site to get the package listing, I can't switch to another site and
try again. As far as I can tell, it's not even trying to open the ftp
connection; it just gives an error right away and quits.

It's an admittedly minor inconsistency, but irritating: by default,
M-q is bound to fill-paragraph-or-region; cc-mode rebinds it to
c-fill-paragraph, which I find very useful (when I call it in a
comment, c-fill-paragraph stops reformatting at the boundaries of that
comment while fill-paragraph-or-region assimilates the surrounding
code as well), but cperl-mode doesn't... Since cperl-mode already has
a cperl-fill-paragraph function (doing what I want), I think it should
also bind cperl-fill-paragraph to M-q by default. Any objections?

enter a name in the minibuffer and hit return.
Selecting "Query with Form" doesn't lead to a crash, instead "Stack
overflow in copy-tree" after submission. When I tried to repeat that
after doing "toggle-debug-on-error", I *did* get a crash.
I tried a number of variants, e. g. starting with -vanilla, using
21.4.1 built with gcc without optimisation (this 21.4.4 is built with
SUNWspro/5.0/bin/cc and "-O"), but the behaviour was identical for all
cases.
Here's the eudc config from ".emacs" - I haven't done the migration:

I was not able to locate a core dump anywhere, but down below is what I got
in the window where xemacs was started.

While trying to update packages from the sunsite.dk CVS server, I'm
getting the following error:
cvs server: failed to create lock directory for `/pack/xemacscvs/XEmacs/packages/xemacs-packages/tramp' (/pack/xemacscvs/XEmacs/packages/xemacs-packages/tramp/#cvs.lock): Permission denied
cvs server: failed to obtain dir lock in repository `/pack/xemacscvs/XEmacs/packages/xemacs-packages/tramp'
cvs [server aborted]: read lock failed - giving up
Can anyone fix this?
It appears that my update from tanko worked without a hitch.
