Better switch your bogglemeter from X100 to X100,000 scale first, or
you'll wrap the needle around the pin.  David Kastrup's bitching about
our "too smart for David" APIs notwithstanding....

Cf. Aidan's recent patch to optimize away unnecessary, mapcar consing.

BTW, "bravo, Aidan!"  Very nice catch.  Should have said that in my
review.  (But I'm serious about being able to turn off that warning.)
