Let me see if I can reproduce the vc.el and CC mode issues.  vc we can
just apply the patch, I guess, but for CC I'm sure Alan will be
interested.  If I can't reproduce, can I ask you to make a report to
him?  (Alan Mackenzie <acm at muc.de> IIRC)
