Need to look into buildbot for this. The setup just specifies that we
use Mercurial and that we build using GNU Autoconf. Quite convenient
when it works. A nightmare when debugging ;-)

I don't think I made any changes to the buildmaster during the
maintenance at Alioth so my guess is that the new setup somehow
triggered this odd behavior. 

I'll try some more debugging later today (and hope that someone comes
up with the solution when I'm away ;-)
