  I'm not sure which bug you're referring to (in fact, it depends on
what you mean by "updating" redisplay). This bug is due to the
combination of the hashing method for the image instance cache and the
way instantiators are updated.

I will try to apply a comment-only patch explaining the problem at the
appropriate locations in the code today.
