configure is ignoring valid options

Is it possible that you have an old configure (or configure.ac)?  Mine 
runs without the warning using --without-error-checking (and 
--with-error-checking=none|no).  But I got the sources through 
mercurial, and configure.ac is from 09 June 2010.
