XEmacs from trunk source works great for me on X on Mac.

I have installed from DarwinPorts/MacPorts in the past, but I haven't
used it much.  MacPorts XEmacs is currently 21.4.21-based, and gives
you Mule, Athena 3d widgets, dbm database, and the SUMO packages by
default.  Seemed to work OK, though 21.4 is really constraining for
me, so I rarely use the MacPorts version (and don't even have it
installed on the Mac in front of me right now).

I haven't used Fink at all in about 5 years.
