Hi Aidan:

That patch does not apply completely. I can't believe people actually
use these:

/usr/local/hg/xemacs-carbon2# patch -p0 < meta-keys.diff
patching file lisp/mule/mule-cmds.el
Reversed (or previously applied) patch detected! Assume -R? [n]
Apply anyway? [n]
Skipping patch.
2 out of 2 hunks ignored -- saving rejects to file
lisp/mule/mule-cmds.el.rej
patching file src/event-carbon.c
Hunk #1 FAILED at 30.
Hunk #8 succeeded at 1091 (offset 32 lines).
1 out of 8 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file src/event-carbon.c.rej
patching file src/intl-carbon.c
Hunk #1 FAILED at 20.
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file src/intl-carbon.c.rej
patching file src/scrollbar-carbon.c
Reversed (or previously applied) patch detected! Assume -R? [n]
Apply anyway? [n]
Skipping patch.
1 out of 1 hunk ignored -- saving rejects to file src/scrollbar-carbon.c.rej
patch unexpectedly ends in middle of line

And then configure bails:

checking whether the -xildoff compiler flag is required... no
checking for specified window system...
configure: error: Under Carbon, the installation prefix must end in .app
