If only there were some way one could easily indicate to the commit bot when
a given commit is a merge ... ah, here we are:

I believe also that the script could explicitly look for commits with two
parents, and that would be definitive for working out when a commit is a
merge, but I didn’t know that when I wrote the script. Some day.
