I think this is a good analogy, though I think in the word processor/
spreadsheet case there might also be a couple different things you can paste
from the clipboard. If you're pasting from Excel into Word, for instance,
you might want to insert a small spreadsheet in your Word doc. When pasting
into, say, Notepad, you might want just the text values from the cells. (I
guess this is the paste vs paste special distinction you referred to.)
