The README.NT file that comes with the gnuserve_beta.zip claims
5) gnuclientw is exactly the same as gnuclient except that it defaults
to topping the Emacs window. It is also compiled as a Windows
application, this means that it doesn't flash up a console window
when run.
So, it sounds to me that gnuclientw is trying to connect to a running
XEmacs server and it can't find one. When that fails, it tries to
invoke XEmacs using the command runemacs. Maybe if you created a
script called runemacs that started XEmacs, all would be well.
BTW, I found another 21.5-related crash (actually, it's a different
manifestation of the same defect I report this morning), so I worked
around this in my latest setup kit, posted this afternoon, ET.
