The problem also goes away if you're me. I can't reproduce. 21.5.21
as released, built with just "./configure: make", run as "xemacs -nw
-vanilla", tested with
(insert "\nRoot:\tjunk junk\n")
(re-search-forward "^Root:[ \t]+\\(.*\\)$"))
Point ends up at the end of the last line, as expected.
You wouldn't happen to be using a 64-bit CPU or something like that?
