No, I think that the ABI is the same at this point.

I've found links to some more details about this problem.  The last time it
came up in -beta was in Feburary:

I still have the dusty workspace with a half-cleaned up patch.  I haven't
tried to submit it because it is quite invasive and only affects a very small
number of users.  If there is more interest then I'll get it ready for
submission.
