I suspect this is a bug that has been fixed; there have been a couple
that produce this message.  I think it's best to update XEmacs.

Since that is difficult, you should set Options -> Troubleshooting ->
Debug on Error to On and then elicit the bug.  Send us the backtrace
that you get.
