Text-utils apache mode and font lock problem

Hrm, I have a problem somewhat similar to that in Gnus + message-mode
under XEmacs in that as soon as an *Article* is displayed,
message-mode is broken for font-lock editing from then on under
21.4.14.  

Font-lock continues to work for everything else I use.
