It's not the extension.  Granted, I'd like to see XKBD committed to
paper, wiped from the disk, then the paper shredded, and the confetti
burned, but that's 'cause I'm lazy and embarrassed that XEmacs doesn't
support it yet.  :-)

It's probably that somebody decided that US keyboards needed
Mode_switch and ISO_Level3_Shift, and twiddled modifiers until all
their GNOME junk worked, and committed the file.  It'll go away, but a
bug report will probably make it go faster.  ;-)
