There are two features that require CVS Emacs:

- AUCTeX can display super- and subscripts like in $x^{2}_{n}$ in a
smaller font and raised/lowered. While the smaller font works in
  Emacs 21.3 raising/lowering doesn't work. In AUCTeX 11.5[01], the
latter cluttered the Emacs message log with hundreds of messages.

IIRC, Ralf Angeli tried (but failed) to implement it for XEmacs.

- In AUCTeX 11.53, the LaTeX math menu can include Unicode characters
if the Emacs built supports it. This menu works with the GTK built
of the CVS version of Emacs, but sometime we got garbled menus (GC
during building the menu). There's a fix (or workaround) for this
in Emacs CVS now and it now works for the GTK and the MacOS X
  builds.

See the initial posting of David's "MULE rant..." on xemacs-beta or
  <URL:http://theotp1.physik.uni-ulm.de/~ste/comp/emacs/bugs/unicode-menu.el>
for a self-contained that demonstrates this menu. Maybe you need to
modify the last few lines in `LaTeX-math-mode' for XEmacs.

Beside the math menu not working on all platforms (e.g. Windows,
non-GTK built on Unix, ...) I'm not aware of anything.

Not only David. It's frustrating to find out some days before the
11.50 release that it didn't even compile (for weeks or months?) with
XEmacs 21.4.12. Although we provide public CVS access and
(release-like) daily tar-ball snapshots, no XEmacs user complained
about this and other XEmacs problems. We try to support XEmacs to the
best of our knowledge; sometimes it seems questionable if it's worth
the effort given the non-feedback of XEmacs users.

Bye, Reiner.
