I'd really like to encourage this, although I have no time for it
myself (I really really need to do something about a BTS and the
mailing lists, including search).
Consider checking in an anoncvs script to get Uno and your patch into
a subdirectory of the tests area of the trunk. Your post would serve
as a fine README for that directory.
Alternatively, you could put it in the unsupported area of packages
under a directory (preferably "james", your @xemacs.org nickname).
As for the "costs", it looks like you've already paid a lot of them,
and these kinds of checks don't need to be done by core people---we
can get more smoke testers like Mats.
