For the things you indicate, they are the perfect choice.  I have used 
other drawing tools including Inkscape at an advanced level.  For 
creating diagrams with boxes and arrows, it is perfect as it is easily 
updatable and editable later on as needs, purposes and details change.  
(Not just resizing and stretching)

Arrows connected to boxes actually remain connected as objects are moved 
within the drawing which is important for updating things.

More details about the purpose of this might be needed, but based on 
what is provided, LibreOffice draw is the clear answer.
