If you mean VMware Server for Linux, that poses its own set of problems.
 VMware Server (or at least the v2.0.x releases) have done away with
VMware Console and require a web browser to administer.  This is all
well and good, save that the Firefox plugin doesn't really work well.
There are hacks that'll let you extract the console software from the
plugin but it has its share of misfeatures (like certain keys on the
keyboard not working).

And don't get me started on ESX... installing VirtualBox to run Windows
to run the ESX Client... bletcherous.
