Ubuntu Karmic
I am attempting to install a php mysql application on my local machine to
test it out.
Thanks to an online tutorial I found at:
http://netbeans.org/kb/docs/php/configure-php-environment-ubuntu.html
I have figured out how to change localhost so that it points to a
subdirectory in my user account and works.
However the application set up instructions for the dog database
application from source forge says that:
<quote>
you will not be successful when using "http://localhost/dogarchive"
as then some cookies won't work, you need to use a hostname that contains
at least two decimals such as www.test.net.
<end quote>
Then the instructions tell how to do this for Windoze.
How would I make a localhost hostname with two decimals under linux?
Can I have several different localhosts? (like one in the user directory
and the one that is under /var/www and the one with the two decimals
in the name?
