[Novalug] How to find hardware device access point

Hi,

I have a box running 64-bit CentOS 5.3. The hardware has an internal DVD-ROM. So to write a DVD
I attach a USB2.0 Sony Plextor unit (good hw!). The device works with CentOS DVD-Creator. I would
like to use the command line (so that I can later script it).

My cdrecord -scanbus shows:
Linux sg driver version: 3.5.27
Using libscg version 'schily-0.8'.
cdrecord: Warning: using inofficial libscg transport code version (schily - Red
Hat-scsi-linux-sg.c-1.83-RH '@(#)scsi-linux-sg.c	1.83 04/05/20 Copyright 1997 J. Schilling').

I have tried to format the DVD in the Sony USB2.0 hw by entering:
 >>dvd+rw-format -force /dev/scd1
* BD/DVD±RW/-RAM format utility by <appro at fy.chalmers.se>, version 7.0.
:-( mounted media doesn't appear to be DVD±RW, DVD-RAM or Blu-ray

I *think* I am getting the internal DVD-ROM. How do I find the hardware device address of the SONY
shown in "cdrecord -scanbus"? Does it default to /dev/scd2??

TIA,
megan
