[Novalug] need help: server freezing / locking up

@Gerald: first off, thanks for the reply!

it's a beefy PSU, 600 watts. hasn't been a problem before running 5
drives, and these new ones are "low power" but i'll put "swapping PSU
from backup server" on my TO-TRY list.

no, it's 8.04.3 :)
8.04 is a LTS release. i figured the LTS would be good to stick with,
but i do plan to upgrade it to 9.10 pretty soon.
