[Novalug] ssh X forwarding stopped working

I'm working at a Fedora 9 desktop ("mums") and ssh'ing
into a Solaris 9 x86 box ("butch"). I have been doing
this for years and if I run a graphical command on butch,
X forwarding has been displaying properly on the mum's
screen. Both machines are on the same LAN.
It has stopped working for unknown reasons.
When I login to butch the DISPLAY variable is not set.
Graphical programs report "Can't open display".
If I manually set and export DISPLAY to mums:10.0,
mums:0.0, or use the equivalent FQDN or IP addresses,
the graphical programs "seem to be working" (i.e.
no errors and "jobs" reports they are "running"),
but there is no display on mums.
I've checked the xhost settings on mums, added all
clients I can think of and even disabled access control
to no avail.
Any ideas?
Jon
