Hi LL Luglist;
1) Outlook - I just got through helping a customer last week with
Outlook 2003.
He got his MS$ Office package screwed up and so he attempted to
reinstall IT.
himself.... but Outlook will automatically default to the MS$ Exchange
Server mode,
and when it finds no ExServ directories, files, it prompts for their
location. There is no
hint anywhere of how to go into standalone s/w install mode. Outlook
uses two file types
to store the downloaded Emails, and more recent versions have
progressively more complex
file compression methods, used by default. This CPA had over 200 MB of
mail for 4+
workers going back 4+ years.........
2) Quick Books - If you go online Quick Books has always been willing to
provide free minor
s/w updates going back as far as 9 - 10 years ago. The problem with
these updates is that
you can't get the updates in a form that would let you reinstall the s/w
on another machine,
So you have to buy the next major revision of the software to get your
financial data out sooner or (not much) later. As they added features
they also slammed the door on using a newer version file with an
older version of the software.......... The backup files are in *.qbb
format.
3) IRA's - I have a ROTH IRA - it is wonderful. I just wish I had money
to throw in it right now.
The normal IRAs are not nearly as good. SEP IRAs are good too. To stay
on track - there are
several irreplaceable investment opportunities right now, and I say that
as a guy who has doubled
his money or better FIVE TIMES since 1980........ There have been years
when there wasn't
anything worth scratching yourself over too......... Anyway Lithium is
the word!!!! With the
advent of hybrid cars some 500,000 large Li-Hydride batteries will be
produced per year,
and the ore / mineral is just laying around on the surface --- in Chille
South America -- and it
is all controlled by 3 Companies. Their stocks have already tripled and
I'm expecting more
over the next 24 - 36 months. Just remember where you heard about this
one guys......
:-)
