Jay,

If I read your posts correctly, seems you were worried about recovering 
files from a Win PC?

I have booted Knoppix and copied files to an external HD and/or USB 
thumb drive. Be sure to right-click on the drive icon on the Knoppix 
desktop and mount it. Right-click again to allow read/write.
