Linode has been in hosting business for longer. Gandi is a
new-kid-on-the-block as far as hosting is concerned. That explains the
remarkably big difference in costs also!
Gandi is the cheapest XEN based hosting I have seen on the web, and
Gandi is a longtime trusted domain registration website.

I am currently using a $1 /month hosting service at http://www.net4.in
(which includes email), but a friend uses Gandi and I like his setup.
