[Novalug] computer hangs up

In the past "gnome-screensaver" has taken(EATEN) my keyboard and mouse
more then once and refuse to give them back.
  And the earlier on fix was always kill and/or disable
"gnome-screensaver" by clearing it's executable bit(s).
