My last experiences with broadcom drivers was several years ago, and I
had one of the models they were iffy about on support.
My current laptop has an intel wireless card inside, and it worked fine
out of the box with Ubuntu.
Another alternative may be to get an atheros-based expresscard wireless
adapter. I think d-link makes one, but would have to doublecheck.
