I have never been assigned an IPv6 address.  The techs who do the
install are very knowledgeable but IPv6 may be beyond their training
at this point.

I only lose my dynamic address if my router is down for an extended
period of time, and consequently I've kept the same address for many
months.  I've done quick router reboots and kept the same address, but
when the power went out for many hours a few weekends ago, I had a new
address when everything came back up.  The router logs some of what
it's doing here and I think I've seen it talking to the DHCP server to
renew its lease.  I don't think there is anything stopping Verizon
from forcing a new address on you when they want to other than the
brief disruption in service that customers might notice.
