There are only two readily available programs for Windows and it does 
not appear that the programmers  have to do much work for the annual 
update of either rather unimpressive program. I guess they do get the 
format right for forms.  I still don't *file* electronically.

What I would like is to be able to interrogate the IRS about supplied 
information to see if I have it all ot let me download it in a secure 
fashion. Disliking taxes and being willing to pay them are different 
things. I'd even pay the IRS a reasonable fee to be allowed to fill in 
and file the form online tho' I'd certainly want a saveable copy. It's a 
bit like the voting machines in MD. Despite scare stories in the 
newspapers, I didn't really want to stop using the simple things but I'd 
have liked to have a printout.
