[Novalug] Nagios ; SMTP time delivery test?

I was asked to ad a time delivery test to nagios for the company. I have
a few dozen reasons why I'm not sure this test will actually prove
anything, but I lost the argument and so here I am looking for one. Does
anyone have a delivery time test? Not just a regular smtp test but
soemthing to actually send a message through (mail
nagios-test at domain.tld) and see how long it takes to deliver. With our
outside spam filter company and our various inside exchange issues,
sometimes this takes too long.
