Well, if you like the idea of a GUI, then chase it. These days, the
Universal GUI Client is the Browser. Learn how to code CGI scripts in
shell or perl. Even better, write a shell script and place it on the
desktop. Double clicking it will run it as a shell script. If you need
user input you can find a simple X utility that prompts for a message
and returns it to the script.
Remember, UNXI/Linux command lines are more logical than the old
Mainframe stuff, especially IBM JCL.
