The var stuff drives me nuts too.  I use CodeSniffer on all of my
custom stuff and nearly ran in terror when I turned it on for
dotProject.  Arg.  It's the little things that I've gotten used to in
5 which I miss in 4...  mostly the OO-related stuff.

I was recently working with someone who said that they "hadn't needed
to upgrade PHP in over four years!"  I died a little inside.
