Yes, some specific combinations of flags or compilers choke on them.
Do we get warnings about repeated macro definitions?

If not, how about sorting them? I realize that will break the
locality of related identifiers, as well as the pairing of destructive
and non-destructive ones, but maybe it's worth it?
Sorting them seems fair enough, but as I said, I plan to split up fns.c, and
it makes more sense to sort them once that’s done.
