Vin, I still get '/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/3.4.4/../../../libc.a' from 'gcc -print-file-name=libc.a' under cygwin 1.5.19, so something else is going on. Perhaps the output of 'cygcheck -svr' would be helpful.
