I don't understand what doesn't work. If compiled as a module, I
don't think the docstrings are supposed to be in DOC, are they? Do
you mean if statically linked into xemacs?
I mean, the information as to what file a symbol came from should be stored
with the corresponding docstring when the module is generated, and that
information should be examined in describe-function and find-function.
I don't see anything about this in the patch, really. A few
words of
documentation of what problems there are would be helpful.
Well, it’s not strictly a problem, in that such functionality never was
available for modules, and this patch doesn’t change that. It will start to
be a problem when people are used to doing C-x 4 F for built-in functions
and find it doesn’t work for functions loaded from modules, and complain.
