Michael, I haven't committed this, but if you want me to, just
yell. :-)
Sounds OK to me. In fact, I've never touched the XEmacs Makefile for
dependencies, I trust in the XEmacs aficionados. The change in
tramp.el I'll commit to Tramp CVS.

Just one question: I don't know why Tramp should require ediff. Not
